Sunwise
Privacy Policy
In short: Sunwise has no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. We, the developer, do not collect, receive, store, sell or share any of your personal data. Your location is used only on your phone to calculate the sun and the moon.
Who we are
Sunwise is developed and published by Cuplex, Sweden. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at support@cuplex.se.
Data we collect
None. Sunwise has no servers of its own, and the app never sends your location, settings, saved places or usage to us. It contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or tracking libraries.
What the app stores on your phone
To work, the app keeps the following on your device only:
- Your settings, such as the theme, language, clock format, time server and notification choices.
- The places you save: a name, coordinates and a time zone.
- Your last known location (coordinates and a place name), so widgets and notifications can show the right times without asking for your location in the background.
- Each widget's settings, such as its place and style.
You can delete all of this at any time by clearing the app's storage in Android's settings or by uninstalling the app.
Location
Location access is optional. If you allow it, Sunwise asks Android for your current location while you use the app and uses it on your phone to calculate sunrise, sunset, twilight, the moon and the sun's direction. If you don't allow it, you can still use saved places or enter coordinates by hand. Sunwise does not ask for background location access.
Services the app talks to
A few features need to contact other services. In each case the request goes from your phone straight to that service, never to us:

All astronomical calculations run on your phone and work without an internet connection.
Notifications and alarms
If you turn on notifications, they are scheduled and shown by your phone. Nothing about them leaves your device. Sunwise asks for permission to post notifications and, optionally, to use exact alarms so they arrive on time.
Backups
If you have Android backup turned on, Android may include Sunwise's settings and saved places, including your last known location, in your device backup. Backups are handled by Android and your backup provider (usually your Google account), and we cannot access them. You can turn backup off in Android's settings.
Permissions
- Approximate and precise location (optional): to calculate times for where you are.
- Internet: for atomic time and place search.
- Notifications (optional): for sunrise, sunset, golden hour, blue hour and full moon reminders.
- Exact alarms (optional): to deliver those reminders on time.
- Run at startup: to schedule your reminders and refresh widgets after the phone restarts.
Children
Sunwise is suitable for everyone and collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
This website
This website has no cookies, analytics or trackers. Like any website, it is served by a hosting provider (Vercel), which may process your IP address and request details in its server logs to deliver and protect the site.
Your rights
Because we don't hold any personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete. The data on your phone is under your control. If you have questions or concerns, email support@cuplex.se. If you are in the EU or EEA, you can also contact your local data protection authority; in Sweden that is IMY.
Changes to this policy
If the app's handling of data changes, we will update this page and the effective date above before the change ships.
